Learn about all about power training and ride tons of great miles with the Peaks Coaching Group power experts: Coach Hunter Allen and Dr. Andy Coggan, the authors of Training and Racing with a Power Meter.  Hunter, the founder of Peaks Coaching Group and guru power coach, along with Dr. Andy Coggan will be leading power presentations and riding daily with the campers. The focus of this camp will not only be on power education but also on improving your ride skills and techniques as well as race tactics and strategy.

Bedford, Virginia is the perfect place for a spring cycling camp with awesome climbing opportunities, quiet country roads for race scenarios, and it’s the hometown for the Peaks Coaching Group Headquarters. Not only will you get daily on the road coaching from Coach Hunter but also from Coach Scott Moninger, the winningest US Pro in history. After rides, the coaching team will be available for power file analysis, helping you understand your power numbers and giving advice to help you all season long.

Please note that coach tips are not included in the camp price.

A $500 refundable deposit is due at time of registration ($100 deposit for single day attendee). This deposit is refundable up to 90 days prior to camp beginning. You will be issued a final invoice 28 days before the commencement of your cycling camp; final payment is due 21 days before the commencement of your cycling camp and all such payments are final, non-refundable and non-applicable. Peaks Coaching Group recommends travel insurance in case of emergency cancellation.

  • 8:30am - Morning demo: Proper bike position
  • 9:00am - Big Island Loop (45 miles)
    • Group ride with 1 and 5 minute tests and pace line
  • Lunch - back at headquarters
  • 2:45pm - Hunter Allen Group Power File Review
  • 3:00pm - 5:00pm - Power Training Seminar with Hunter & Andy
  • 6:30pm - Dinner as a group

  • 10:00am - Thunder Ridge Power Climb (55 miles) 
    • "Race" 60 min TT, drills, handling, and descending

  • 3:00pm - 5:00pm - Power Training Seminar with Hunter & Andy
  • 6:10pm - Video review of athlete position on climb

    • This is a favorite of many past campers! Learn about great sprint position, then try and beat your buddy!

  • 8:45am - "B" Group Start
  • 9:15am - "A" Group Start
    • Peaks of Otter Long Day and Race (94 miles) 
      • Test your endurance on this one of a kind Race Day
      • 2 climbs, awesome descents and a 22 mile "race" home.
  • Lunch, recovery drinks, yoga - back at headquarters
  • 4:00pm - 6:30pm - Power file reviews
  • 6:30pm - Dinner at The Social Club

  • 8:30am - Morning demo: attack and bridge
  • 9:00am - Bedford Loop (45 miles)
    • Attack and Bridge drills, including a fun race home

Checking in begins at 1:00pm April 13th. Please make arrangements to arrive between 1:00pm & 3:00pm when possible to facilitate the check in process.

For those traveling via air, please book travel into Roanoke Regional Airport. Peaks Coaching Group will be running complimentary shuttles to and from the airport on (first day & last day).  Please supply us with your travel schedule as soon as your travel is confirmed so we can coordinate pick up and drop off.

For those traveling by air you can either chose to ship your bike in advance or take with you in your travels.  Our support team will assemble all shipped bikes in advance and be onsite to support those that are traveling with their bike.

Our campers will be staying at the newly renovated Super 8, located just minutes from headquarters! The Super 8 has all you will need to make your stay pleasant - guest laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, continental breakfast, and more!

The weather in Bedford, Virginia in April has an average temperature of 70 degrees; low morning temperatures average 45 degrees with afternoons getting up to 70 degrees. Bring a range of clothing to be prepared for cooler temperatures.
